The 15 Best Good News Stories of 2012
#1.) Police and firemen in Arlington, Texas went all-out to give a sick seven-year-old kid his Make-a-Wish dream to be Batman. In April, they let him ride along with the "real" Batman and staged crimes all over the city, for them to rush in and stop.
#2.) A woman suffered a severe heart attack in February, and doctors declared her dead. 45 minutes later, her husband said his final goodbyes, kissed her . . . and she opened her eyes. Doctors revived her, and she showed no signs of brain damage.
#3.) In May, a girl's prom date cancelled on her . . . so an NFL player she met online agreed to take his place, and picked her up in his white Lamborghini.
#4.) President Obama was on the campaign trail in June . . . and he took the time to write the BEST EXCUSE NOTE EVER for a little kid who skipped school to come hear him speak.
#5.) A baseball player got hit in the head by the first pitch he saw in the big leagues, and suffered a career-ending injury. But seven years later, in October, the Marlins signed him to a one-day contract so he could get a real at bat. He struck out, but still.
#6.) In February, an animal shelter in New York hired a fashion photographer to take glamour shots of the pets wearing accessories like bows and pearls . . . and adoptions increased by 50%.
#7.) A truck driver stopped at a rest stop while on the road in June . . . and left without realizing his dog had jumped out. The dog waited at the rest stop and stayed PERFECTLY STILL for two full days, until the guy came back to get him.
#8.) After the Indianapolis Colts' coach had to step down to battle leukemia, the team shaved their heads as a show of support. And one of the cheerleaders agreed to do it too, to help raise money for cancer research.
#9.) Walmart moved to a new location in a Texas town, leaving behind a big, empty building . . . that the town decided would be perfect for their new library.
#10.) An off-duty bus driver was in the right place at the right time in July. He caught a seven-year-old girl who fell out of her third-story window.
#11.) A guy went into a restaurant and bought a 17-pound lobster . . . just so he could set it free. He took a boat out in July and released the lobster in a place where fishermen weren't allowed to set traps.
#12.) A mom in China has found 30 babies abandoned by the side of the road over the years . . . and she's taken them all in and raised them.
#13.) In August, a swimmer who won an Olympic gold medal had a copy of it made . . . to give to the family of a rival of his who died during training.
#14.) A couple had to fly with their newborn twins in September. So when they boarded the plane, they handed out earplugs and notes apologizing in advance if the babies cried.
#15.) A North Carolina man was so excited about his daughter giving birth to his first grandson in January, that he fixed up his 1979 GMC pickup . . . so his grandson could come home from the hospital in the same truck that his kids did.
