Its hard sometimes to feel like our country won't be as great for our kids and grandkids as it was for us - that maybe in many ways, morally, we are headed in the wrong direction. This story re-affirms to me that our kids still know what's up. They are more compassionate and understanding than our generation and we should be proud of that.
Here's the story: Park Hills, MO, just outside of Kansas City, Friday night football game. They are ready to announce who has been crowned 2012 Homecoming Queen. Alyssa, a cheerleader, changes out of uniform and into her gown to see if she has won. Alyssa wins the crown by a landslide and the crowd stands up to cheer but they are all crying. Because Alyssa has Down Syndrome.
